The Guild was started by the late Archbishop Dominic Vendargon in 1947. The Catholic Nurses were encouraged to form the Guild, enabling them to pray and remain close to God through the giving of moral and spiritual support. Membership is open to all catholic nurses throughout Malaysia.

Our Vision is Catholic Nurses as Christ-Centered Witnesses of the Gospel through their Ministry of Caring.

Our Mission is to participate in Christ’s loving caring and saving mission of bringing compassion and relief to the suffering, the sick, the elderly and the marginalized.

Our Commitment is to move forward offering love and caring services to every patient in need regardless of religion, race, color and language and to provide pastoral and professional needs to catholic nurses.

The goals of the catholic nurses guild focus on the spiritual, professional and social issues.

In 1971, CNG Malaysia was registered by the Registrar of Societies Kuala Lumpur and was admitted as a full member of CICIAMS ( International Committee of Catholic Nurses and Medical Social Assistants).

The Guild encourages every hospital or clinics where there are catholic nurse, to form their own groups and to conduct their activities under the umbrella of the church.

Our theme “Let your Light Shine” was chosen for this Seminar. The objective is

  1. To emphasize the Christian Spirit as being an integral part of the nurses’ code of ethics.
  2. To foster in the nurse the true ideals of the nursing profession, that is dignity, compassion, loyalty and service.

It was a very enriching seminar as talks and sharing were given by experienced professionals.

The next AGM will be in Cameron Highlands, to be held on the 22nd August to the 25th August and the theme chosen “ Faith, Commitment, nurses as instrument of healing”. Please book your tickets early, take the morning flight . Bus has been arranged and will leave for Cameron highlands at 12 noon both from LCCT and KLIA. I look forward to seeing you there.
