The twin parables of the treasure and of the pearl teach us the same lesson. Both, the person who discovered the treasure and the one who discovered the pearl, decide to acquire the same. For both of them nothing was more important than acquiring the said wealth lawfully, and they sacrifice every other possession to be able to do so. And they do it with total joy!

These parables teach us the unconditional dedication which the Kingdom of God demands. For the sake of this cause of joy, no effort and no renunciation is too much. Nothing can match the value of the Kingdom. The Good News of Jesus Christ fascinates the person who discovers it and has no intention to lose it at any cost.

The Kingdom alone can give meaning to the life of any person who discovers it. The parable of the fishing net pints to the final times. Though persons who are good and who are not good grow together, only the good ones will be chosen.

Then shall be manifested the true community of the children of God as distinct from those who praise God with their lips but give no place to Him in their lives.
